Feral Fabric Banner Workshop

In 2018 and 2019 Feral Fabric held a series of free banner making workshops at the Oakland Pride Parade, the Oakland May Day Labor march, and as a community banner workshop at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive. At the parade and march, participants made fabric signs, capes, and banners to demonstrate their beliefs and concerns, all while self-representing through textile art. Participants at our BAMPFA workshop contributed to a community banner about Bay Area radical badies, like Janet Mock, Yuri Kochiyama, and Ed Roberts, that included physical portraits and a portrait of their ideas.

Feral Fabric is the collaboration of Paulina Berczynski and Amanda Walters. It was established in 2018 as a platform for highlighting the history of radical textile production in art, activism, and countercultural movements. We bring forward ideas, conversations, workshops, and classes that combine our interests in textiles, contemporary art, and personal and cultural transformation.
